Mothers' Guild

What is the Mothers' Guild?

Founded over 80 years ago, the Mothers’ Guild is one of the parent volunteer groups at Loyola High School. The Executive members organize events to benefit Loyola students, the school and the community.

Our Mission

The mandate of the Mothers' Guild is to raise money for the Loyola High School Bursary Fund. This fund is set up to provide deserving students with the financial assistance needed for them to attend Loyola.

Did you know?

  • On average, about 133 students (18% of Loyola's student population) benefit from the bursary fund yearly.
  • The Mothers' Guild donated $85,000 to the bursary fund in 2019.
  • The Mothers' Guild has been in existence for almost 80 years.

Main Activities

The Mother’s Guild supports the below initiatives and activities listed below.  However, due to the pandemic, we will be modifying these in-school events and looking for new ways to continue our fundraising efforts to engage with the Loyola community.

Loyola Store:

  • Clothing sales are held before the start of school and on several other occasions during the school year.
  • The store is open Tuesday and Thursday lunchtimes (Due to COVID-19 the store is closed).
  • For hassle-free shopping, visit our online store store.loyola.ca

Junior Information Night - The Mothers’ Guild hosts a welcome wine and cheese for Secondary 1 & 2 parents after they meet the teachers (This event was held virtually in September 2020 due to COVID-19).

Memorial Mass - November 8, 2020:  The Mothers’ Guild hosts a reception following Mass in the School Atrium. Families welcome (This event will be held virtually due to COVID-19).

Wine & Cheese Fundraiser - December 1, 2019: On the first Sunday of Advent, we transform the school gym into a winter wonderland. It is a fun afternoon for our Loyola community to participate in a silent auction, games, raffles, socialize and to get a head start on Christmas shopping. Bring your family and friends (and get to know other parents!) – adults only (This wonderful event will unfortunately be canceled this year).

Meet & Greet - February 9, 2021:  Come talk to us if you are interested in joining the Mothers' Guild. All current mothers welcome. We are always looking for volunteers!

Communion Breakfast – May 2, 2021:  Hosted on the Sunday prior to Mother's Day, the morning begins with a Mass in the Eric Maclean, S.J. Centre. A continental breakfast is then served in the Atrium. A special guest speaker is invited to share their experiences and finally, the Mothers’ Guild presents their Annual report. Families welcome.

Loyola High School Mothers' Guild Executive 2020 - 2021

The Loyola High School Mothers' Guild Executive is comprised of 14 volunteers, each serving for a 2-year term. Each year approximately one-half of the Executive Members conclude their mandates and subsequently, their positions become available to other mothers who would like to serve on the Guild Executive.
