DAILY EVENTS

REGULAR DRESS
As of Monday, October 4, we will be returning to our regular dress code. This gives all students two full weekends to properly prepare themselves for the change. On October 4th students are expected to be in Shirt, Tie and Blazer along with all other parts of our dress code.

NATIONAL DAY FOR TRUTH AND RECONCILIATION
For the first time ever, September 30 will be observed as a federal statutory holiday to commemorate the victims of residential schools in Canada. (Please note that it is still a school day) It is a day to spread awareness and reflect on the tragedies of the residential school system, and the inequalities that Indigenous Peoples continue to face today. In keeping with the "Calls to Action from the Truth and Reconciliation Commission Report," of 2015, we are in the midsts of confirming the unmarked graves of thousands of Indigenous children. On September 30, the Loyola community will participate in this commemoration by wearing orange, participating in an examen, a moment of silence, and engaging in conversations with our peers and family members. Throughout the day, and for the remainder of this year, we must continue to learn from our history, understand the painful legacy of colonization that persists today, and move together in a spirit of truth and reconciliation. Nia:wen.

SPORTS EVENTS

MIDGET SOCCER 4.2
Congratulations to our Midget Warriors who won their season opener yesterday against Selwyn House. The game started off slowly for Loyola, being down 2-0 in the first 10 minutes. Things weren’t looking good until Alessandro, (3A), scored the first goal for Loyola. This changed the pace of the game, which led to Kyle (4E) scoring a hat trick to win the game 4-2. The Warriors showed their grit and superior teamwork, earning a solid, well deserved win.

DARTS CLUB
Congratulations to Mr. Ketterling who came back from a 2-0 deficit, to defeat his new arch rival, Mr. Dagher 3-2 in the final of the "Double Seekers Open," yesterday. Other performances of note included Jason Rigante who came out of retirement to rejoin the tour, and Mr. Solari who jumped to number three in the rankings.
